We’ve reached out to all the nail polish brands to bring you this post. The main thing I’d like to point out is that Essie and OPI, 2 of the most popular nail polish brands, DO test on animals by selling in China. Sally Hansen is another culprit. Regardless, you’ll notice that there are an […]

Are there cruelty-free brands at Dermstore? You may be surprised! This online retailer is starting to carry a lot more cruelty-free brands. Even some of the most popular cruelty-free brands found at Sephora, Ulta, or Nordstrom. For many consumers, big online shops like Dermstore are one of the main places where they purchase cosmetics, skin care, and hair care. It is so helpful to see them carrying more and more cruelty-free brands. Being aware of the cruelty-free brands at Dermstore can be a challenge because there are so many brands available. This list will help make it easier for you! This is the most recent update of a post I originally published on February 8, 2016. All of the cruelty-free brands included here are sold at Dermstore. They are completely cruelty-free and do not take part in any kind of animal testing. Just as with the Cruelty-Free Brand List, it is noted next to a brand if they are owned by a company who tests on animals. It is also noted if they are a 100% vegan brand. The Cruelty-Free Brands at Dermstore are: 100% Pure 21 Drops – 100% vegan Anastasia Beverly Hills Aquis bareMinerals – It should be noted that they are cruelty-free, but […]

I have some extremely sad news. My favourite brand, Too Faced, has sold out to Estee Lauder. This means they’re no longer totally cruelty-free. As a parent brand, Estee Lauder does sell their products in China which means that profits of Too Faced are supporting a company that allows testing on animals. “Too Faced Cosmetics has been …
Estée Lauder's Chinese sales grew by 40 percent in the past year, thanks to a savvy, localized e-commerce strategy that puts an emphasis on both freestanding e-commerce sites as well as branded Tmall storefronts.

Today well loved cruelty-free brand Too Faced announced that they are now part of the Estee Lauder family of brands. Rumors of this acquisition started circulating last year but were put to rest when Too Faced received the financial backing of a financial institution instead of another cosmetic company. It was announced today that Estee Lauder has completed their acquisition of Too Faced. One of the main reasons Too Faced has cited in the past for looking to take on more investment was to extend their reach into the European market. That has come up again today, with Jerrod Blandino telling Women’s Wear Daily that they want to take a more global approach with the brand. He also mentioned the possibility of opening Too Faced stores, which is something Estee Lauder has helped other cosmetic brands do. Knowing their audience, Jerrod Blandino has already addressed animal testing. “They respect our values, our core beliefs that we built our brand on. We will not be animal testing, we will not be going into China, we will not be made to fold into a corporate culture that we do not have. They love and respect what we have created and are just going to support us …

These popular brands all still test on animals. Some of them are often mistaken for being cruelty-free, but sadly this is not the case. I’ve included a brief description of each company’s policy to explain why they aren’t cruelty-free. For the majority of these cases, the brands are sold in China, where animal testing is […]

It finally happened, guys. Too Faced was just bought by Estée Lauder. As someone who wants to support 100% cruelty-free brands as much as possible, I’m bummed. I’m also worried about the direction the beauty industry is heading. Every successful independent cruelty-free brand is being acquired by giants like Estée Lauder and L’Oréal. I understand …
